Getting to know Jan

Care that makes space for your story.

Perhaps you have spent so many years caring for everyone else that you have had very little space to name what is happening within you. Grief, relationship pain, anxiety, disappointment, unhealthy patterns, or questions about faith may have been carried quietly for years. Sometimes the hardest part is simply not knowing where it is safe to be completely honest.

Jan comes to this work with both professional training and personal understanding. Walking through her own counseling helped her recognize blind spots, understand her story more clearly, and experience healing in places she had struggled to reach alone. After years of raising her family, serving in women’s ministry, and working as a CPA, Jan followed the dream she had continued to carry and began pursuing her counseling degree at the age of 50. These experiences continue to shape the empathy and care she brings into the counseling relationship.

Jan works primarily with women experiencing relationship challenges, grief and loss, codependency, anxiety, depression, spiritual struggles, and major life transitions. She also supports women who have spent years holding everything together for others and are beginning to recognize that they need a place to receive care themselves.

Her approach to counseling is person-centered and informed by attachment theory and spiritual direction. Jan believes healing does not come from having all the right answers or trying harder to keep everything together. It often begins within a trusted relationship where someone is willing to sit with us, listen carefully, and help us understand what we have been carrying. Clients can expect Jan to be warm, accepting, encouraging, and honest. She creates a space where women can be vulnerable about their struggles, doubts, questions, and pain. Her hope is that each person who sits with her feels seen, supported, and validated, while also being gently challenged in ways that lead toward greater freedom, peace, and hope.

For those whose faith is an important part of their story, Jan welcomes conversations about faith, doubt, and spiritual struggles with care and respect. She believes God is the ultimate healer and considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they seek healing, clarity, and direction.

Outside the counseling room, Jan enjoys watching sports, reading, studying the Bible with other women, and spending time with her family. She has been married for more than 50 years and is the mother of four adult children and a grandmother to several wonderful grandchildren. Jan provides secure online counseling for clients in Florida and Kentucky. If Jan sounds like someone you might feel comfortable sitting with, we invite you to schedule a consultation or appointment.
