Getting to know Ashley
Care that makes space for your story.
Some families go through seasons that ask more of them than anyone around them can see. Trauma, divorce, parenting a child with special needs, caring for an aging family member, or grieving a significant loss can leave one person trying to hold everything together. When so much of life is focused on caring for others, it can be difficult to find a place where you can be cared for too.
Ashley comes to this work with both professional training and years of personal experience as a caregiver. She is a biological, adoptive, foster, and stepparent and spent seven years as a foster mother. She is the mother of five children, three of whom have special needs. She has also walked through divorce, loss, and difficult seasons in her own life, and she understands the vulnerability of sitting in the client’s chair.
Before becoming a counselor, Ashley ran an assisted living facility and later a home-care company. She has supported individuals and families through dementia, caregiving, end-of-life care, and devastating losses, including the death of a child. These experiences have shaped the compassion, steadiness, and hope she brings into the counseling room.
Ashley works with women, men, couples, and parents navigating trauma, complex or high-conflict divorce, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, grief, dementia, and caregiving. She also has a special understanding of foster, adoptive, blended, and special-needs families and the unique pressures these families may carry.
Her approach to counseling is grounded in understanding and connection. Ashley believes healing begins when people feel safe enough to be honest about what they have experienced and how it continues to affect them. She primarily uses a person-centered approach as well as EMDR, DBT, the Gottman Method, and SYMBIS based on the needs of the person or couple sitting with her.
Clients can expect Ashley to be warm, compassionate, understanding, and hopeful. She wants people to know they remain in control of their counseling journey. Ashley will walk alongside them, but they are always in the driver’s seat. Her hope is that clients leave feeling safe, understood, connected, and reminded that healing is possible.
For those whose faith is an important part of their story, Ashley welcomes faith into the counseling process with care and respect. She also welcomes clients from all backgrounds and beliefs.
Outside the counseling room, Ashley enjoys parenting, reading, music, spending time within her faith community, and being with friends and family.
