Identity, Culture & Belonging
You may have found that some parts of who you are are welcomed and understood in certain places, while those same parts are questioned, overlooked, or misunderstood in others. Moving between cultures, communities, or expectations may mean changing how you speak, what you share, or how you present yourself depending on where you are. You may also be trying to understand how race, culture, family, faith, language, and community fit together within your life and identity.
For some people, these questions are connected to experiences with bias, discrimination, stereotyping, or exclusion. For others, they come from cultural or generational differences within the family, balancing more than one cultural identity, or sorting through expectations about who they are supposed to be.
These experiences can shape the way you see yourself, relate to others, and experience belonging. Counseling provides a place to talk openly about these parts of your story and understand how they have affected your life. Your counselor will take time to listen without making assumptions and walk alongside you as you develop a clearer understanding of yourself and a stronger sense of self-worth and belonging.
Complimentary consultation: 15 minutes with a counselor.
