Getting to know Lindsay
Care that makes space for your story.
Thoughts about food, your body, or getting things exactly right can quietly take up more and more space in your day. You may feel caught in cycles of rules, comparisons, intrusive thoughts, or anxiety that the people around you cannot see and that you cannot seem to quiet. The strain may also be showing up in the relationship between you and your child, leaving both of you wanting connection but unsure how to reach one another.
Lindsay comes to this work with both professional training and personal understanding. After living with an eating disorder for more than a decade, she began working with a counselor who helped her understand that an eating disorder is not simply about food. Within the safety of that relationship, Lindsay began exploring the deeper experiences beneath the struggle and started waking up to her own story. That healing journey continues to shape the way she sits with clients today.
Lindsay works with women of all ages experiencing disordered eating, body-image concerns, OCD, anxiety, and depression. She also works with parent-child relationships and has a special heart for mothers and daughters who want to understand one another more deeply and create healthier patterns within their relationship.
Her approach to counseling is relational and story-centered. Lindsay believes that our deepest needs are to belong and to know that we matter. She also believes that healing happens when people experience a safe relationship where their hearts can be known without judgment. As clients begin experiencing that kind of connection within counseling, they can gradually become more open, compassionate, and connected in their relationships outside the counseling room. Clients can expect Lindsay to be warm, genuine, thoughtful, and fully present. Her hope is that people leave feeling deeply seen, especially in the parts of their stories they may have felt pressure to hide. She often reminds clients that it is hard to be human, that it is okay to be where they are right now, and that all of life is practice.
For those whose faith is an important part of their story, Lindsay welcomes faith into the counseling process with care and respect. She also welcomes clients from all backgrounds and beliefs.
